Barclays Zim links branches, ATMs with fibre

Barclays Bank Zimbabwe has completed its first phase of a Wide Area Network (WAN) fibre-optic connectivity project.
This project, according to the bank’s managing director George Guvamatanga, “seeks to improve the communication network” linking branches and Automated Teller Machines (ATMs).
He further said that this project has enabled Barclays Zimbabwe to “replace the limited capacity VSAT solution with a fibre based” solution.
Zimbabwean banks are moving in to grasp internet banking and analysts say there is greater need to utilise the internet for banking and e-commerce to ease transactions.
